Sustainability proposal – Essay writing

 Description

This week, you will write the abstract for your final sustainability proposal paper. Your abstract serves the same purpose as an Executive Summary in a business setting. The goals of the abstract are to orient and inform a decision-maker quickly and concisely. Often, the decision-maker will evaluate your sustainability argument and determine its value and whether to proceed based on the abstract. Thus, you must clearly and concisely convey your sustainability argument and its benefits in one page. Also, the reader must understand your argument from only the summary. Do not refer to data or terms defined in the proposal.

Guidelines

The summary/abstract on  stands alone. When you write your abstract/decision-maker summary, you must always consider the audience’s perspective and write directly to that person/people. In this case, you should assume that the decision-maker will not approve your =Sustainability proposal project unless you cover all aspects of the triple bottom line sustainability concept (people, planet, profits) as well as costs to implement and maintain. If the costs of your project are too high (i.e. cost to implement cannot break even over a specified amount of time), the decision-maker may not approve the project. Notes: • Executives are also responsible to employees (i.e. avoiding layoffs), the Board, and shareholders. Similarly, government officials are responsible to all of their constituents. Thus, you must think about the situation from their perspective and write directly to them. •

Conclusion

Your abstract/summary  on sustainability proposal should describe the problem you wish to solve, why it is important to solve, your approach (method) for solving it, a summary of key data that will be collected, and estimated costs. Part 2 – Peer Responses Please respond to at least two fellow students with a substantive reply that provides additional insight into how to improve. Use the 2+2 rule to respond. The 2+2 rule suggests that you state two positive aspects about your classmate’s answer and two constructive criticisms to help the student improve their summary. If you cannot understand their proposal from the initial post, explain how your peer should improve. If the initial post is of good quality, suggest possible ways to improve grammar, spelling, conclusion, or readability.
