Twin 16-year-old females, Becca and Jess, in a Reform Jewish family Becca is an out lesbian and Jess is silently struggling with her gender identity Becca was supported greatly when she came out (at age 13) both in her family and at her synagogue Becca is single at the moment but dated a girl for six months when she was 15 Jess is currently dating a Hispanic/Latino boy named Mateo who identifies as pansexual Mateo has a tense relationship with his father and turned his back on his Church.

His mother and sister are supportive and he is close with them Jess has felt quite androgynous since she was 12 and has been dressing / presenting in that manner for four years – unsure if she is non-binary or trans but is on that trajectory

Has not told anyone about how she feels except for Mateo, who accepts her She is fearful of how her parents will react because she thinks they understand affectional orientation far better than they understand gender identity – afraid she won’t be accepted or understood Goal: counsel Jess through her current struggles with gender identity (maybe some family therapy?) Syllabus: The final exam will be a group demonstration of counseling an LGBTQ client/student consisting of a case conceptualization based on a case study scenario.

A good case conceptualization and demonstration of counseling skills will provide a clinical understanding of the client/student with a clear application of an identity model in assessment and treatment. This assignment is designed to help you and the members of your group gain more direct and relevant LGBT cultural knowledge, increase your sensitivity and awareness toward diverse LGBT clients/students, and become more culturally competent in your skills as a counseling professional. https://youtu.be/elUwyKEH97U
