Job Suitability statement

This assignment involves writing a job suitability statement which positions your suitability for the role and which includes an evaluation of your skills, knowledge and attributes.

Job Suitability statement

Part B: [40%] Construct your graduate future and identify a job role for either a placement, internship or graduate position. Write a 1,200-word reflexive statement which positions your suitability for the role and which includes an evaluation of your skills, knowledge and attributes. You should select a role which you feel is most appropriate for your personal circumstances. This can include, if appropriate, working for your family business, setting up or developing your own business, or progressing your career in an organisation for which you already work. If you plan to undertake study abroad or the enterprise year, you will need to reflect on how your choice will support development of your skills, knowledge and attributes.

You should include a person specification relating to your target role in your appendices – typically this will be Appendix 1. This commentary should be written in the first person, draw upon the relevant person specification / job description, and include appendices containing supporting evidence. Your commentary must comprise the following elements: 1. An explanation of why you consider yourself to be the ideal candidate for the role. Illustrate your arguments with a wide range of feedback and evidence from seminar and workshop activities, directed study, and other relevant sources of evidence, such as part-time jobs, volunteering, university activities, sporting activities, hobbies and interests.

2. Give consideration of your personal strengths and weaknesses in relation to your capability to fully carry out the main requirements of the role and / or fully meet the entry requirements. 3. Discuss the next steps to build on strengths and address weaknesses. For example, if you have identified a need to improve an essential skill area, you need to explain why, how and when you plan to it. 4. Outline your rationale for applying for this role within the context of your longer-term career plan.

As this is a reflexive piece of work which focuses on you, there is no particular need to underpin your commentary with academic references, rather Part B requires you to underpin the claims you make about yourself with supporting evidence in the form of appendices. You will refer to these in your discussion so that your commentary is underpinned with believable real-life evidence drawn from this module and elsewhere. Your appendices also provide supporting evidence to demonstrate that you have engaged in a meaningful way with the seminar/workshop activities on the module. https://youtu.be/lyY-5tza6Js
