In this assignment, you are required to research & respond to “What makes an effective gender-based social protest movement or activism? And what would I campaign for?” You can use Chapter 10 in your textbook to help you gain some general knowledge. Optional, but if it helps it’s “Women Across Cultures: A Global Perspective” by Shawn Meghan Burn).In addition, for this part of the paper, you will compose a “how to” manual for gender-based social protest.  Also,if you were making your own campaign, what would you be protesting?

Additionally, what should the manifesto/declaration of sentiments look like? Also, what literature should accompany it and who should be involved? What specific events should take place? Are there specific considerations for gendered protest? How would you get the word out? Lastly, what are the outcomes you wish your movement to have? On the second part of the paper,  you will be an examining a particular moment, group, or event in the history of gendered protest of women’s rights.

For instance, the Miss America Protest, the Whitney Museum Protest, the Nashville Sit-ins, the Stonewall Riots.  The Me Too Movement, the Women’s March, Black Lives Matter, the Seneca Falls Convention, the first International Women’s Day, etc.). Specifically, you will use the criteria established in Part one of the assignment to evaluate the effectiveness of a specific social protest movements in history. Research it, write a short summary of the movement and then do an analysis of the movement. One,what were organizers attempting to achieve and how effective was it?

Two, what worked and what didn’t? And why? Also, what are the central issues that define this particular protest? How would you change what the activists and protesters did to make it more effective? Lastly,how would you have participated? Finally the format essay should be as follows. Utilize MLA 8 formatting – Be no less than 1,000 words. Utilize at least 4 scholarly or reliable sources that are properly documented within your essay & cited at the end of the essay in a Works Cited section.
