It’s an informative speech,  Choose a current event that is important to you – and you think everyone should know about all of the different aspects of it. Remember, you’ll need to restrict yourself to only cover material for 5-6 minutes, so you should choose a topic where you can complete an overview and three main points within that time. You should have a clear thesis statement that is developed in the body of your speech with three main points.

Your main points should be arranged in one of the informative designs covered in the textbook (at the top of your document, say which informative design you used and on which page you found it). Your speech should reflect responsible, balanced knowledge of your topic, and should be as objective as possible. So, you’ll want to show the different points of view on the topic. There is no need to take any sides. In fact, you should not take sides – you’re trying to get all of the information to us. For your three points, you’ll want to make sure you’re representing everyone – even the points of view with which you disagree.

Each main point must be supported with at least one source. Your sources must come from a physical source at our library or one of our virtual library databases (you will find the link to the NC Library Databases in this week’s module resources). Be sure to cite your source (you’ll need the author, the website, the organization, and the date). Sources should be dated between 2015-2022 (nothing older!). Think of this speech like an essay… except that you’re eventually going to read it out loud. – Followed textbook Format and gave page number and indicated model outline The word count for this outline excludes external sources and your references/bibliography.
