Numeracy as a lifelong resource. 2022 Best
This paper explores numeracy as a lifelong resource. Assignment u Part 1 u Description of Learner group (~200 words) u Explanation of social issue and relevance with learner group (~300 words). Part 2 u Design and describe two learning activities based on the chosen social issue and argue how these can be used to develop critical numeracy among learners in this group.

Assignment Structure of the Assignment u Part 1 u Description of Learner group (~200 words) u Explanation of social issue and relevance with learner group (~300 words). Part 2 u Design and describe two learning activities based on the chosen social issue and argue how these can be used to develop critical numeracy among learners in this group. (~700 words) u Part 3 u Theoretically justify the pedagogical effectiveness of the activities (~500 words) u Reference List u Appendix u Teacher procedures, student instructions and supporting materials for each of the learning activities in Part 2 Detailed Description of the assignment.
Numeracy as a lifelong resource.
The assignments should include three parts and should be written with 1500 words distributed as below: Part1 (500 words): learner profile Ø Description of Learner group (~200 words): The description should include: age profile, size of the group, gender, socio-economic profile, cultural and linguistic profile, Learner goals and needs, the program in which they are enrolled (e.g.1 Adult Migrant English program) and the key learning outcomes of the program to which the activities can be linked. (I prefer the target learners to be Long-term migrants, living in Australia for 5+ years, Living in the Western suburbs).
Numeracy as a lifelong resource.
Explanation of social issue and relevance with learner group (~300 words): The social issue should be ‘real’. You must explain, with reference to the information about the learner group, why it is likely to be of relevance to the learners **Refer to learners’ profile information when you are justifying the suitability of your choice of social issue Part2 (700 words): Design and describe two activities In this part you should design and describe two learning activities based on the chosen social issue and argue how these can be used to develop critical numeracy among learners in this group.
Numeracy as a lifelong resource.
Include teacher procedures, student instructions and supporting materials for each of the learning activities in separate Appendices. This part must include and cover the following: Outlines of each of the learning activities and how they will be conducted. The learning activities must be described in enough detail to convey what the learners will actually be doing and learning. Vague references like “discuss”, “investigate”, “explore” are inadequate. You need to outline the what and how, as well as the specific resources they will have to “do” the learning. Explanations of how the learning activities contribute to the learners’ critical numeracy development, including understanding of the social issue on which the activities are based. Numeracy as a lifelong resource.
Numeracy as a lifelong resource.
The learning activities must be described in sufficient detail to show what critical numeracy development will emerge: what critical questions about the social issue will they be actively working with? Explanations of mathematical knowledge and skills that the learners will develop, and how these build on what you have assumed the learners already know about related mathematical knowledge and skills. Be specific about the numeracy concepts and skills they will be developing. You need to work through the activities yourself to identify these. “Statistics”, or “graphs” is too broad and vague. Part 3 (500 words): Justify the effectiveness of learning activities Theoretically justify the pedagogical effectiveness of the activities.
Numeracy as a lifelong resource.
Analyze and argue, with reference to the attached readings, how the learning activities support critical numeracy development for the learner group Your written part must: Explain the rationale of the learning activities as effective pedagogical resources to develop learners’ critical numeracy. The rationale of the learning activities must relate to who the learners are, and what the social issue is. You must develop an argument about how the activities promote critical numeracy, not just assert it. Make strong and clear links between specific aspects of the learning activities with theoretical ideas (such as fund of knowledge, reflective knowing, ethno-mathematics) from the attached readings.
Numeracy as a lifelong resource.
Make connections between specific parts of the learning activity and theoretical principles, not just state broad claims Show that you have a clear understanding of the concept of critical numeracy. Discuss the different aspects of what critical numeracy is, and show how your learning activity address them. Information and Tips for satisfying work **Each activity should include 5 stages as described below 1.Warmer ?? Stimulus Material – cartoon, image, YouTube clip, short reading, short listening task ?? Brainstorm the topic ?? Purpose: Building the field/ Exploring FoK 2.Teaching Point presentation (Target mathematical content and/or language) ?? https://youtu.be/I1oyuw8SymU
