Assignment 1

This assignment will allow students to review how the processes of sensation and perception relate to other cognitive processes.  In their papers, students must do the following: 

•  First, define sensation and perception and describe how these two processes are related to each other. Provide an example of how the processes of sensation and perception work for one of our sensory systems (visual, auditory, olfactory, etc.).
• Secondly, explain how might sensory deficits interfere with other cognitive processes? For example, how might something like auditory decline interfere with someone’s ability to pay attention? Provide and explain a couple of examples of how sensation influences cognition.
• Lastly, describe a couple examples of perceptual disorders and describe how these perceptual disorders interfere with cognition. 

 Assignment 2

This assignment will allow students to review material related to learning, short-term and working memory and how these cognitive processes relate to each other. In their papers, students must do the following:

• To begin with, explain various ways in which individuals can mentally organize information, and how proper organization of mental information facilitates learning and memory.
• Define and describe the various levels of cognitive processes that individuals can use to organize information in memory. Make sure you provide a clear example of each level of processing.
• Describe the three main types of memory (short term, working, and long term). What distinguishes these types of memory? How are they similar and how are they different? Make sure you explain popular models of memory that describe how these types of memory relate to each other. how do they relate to perception and cognitive processes

• First, the assignment will include a title page and a reference list page, and be completed in Times New Roman 12-point font, double-space, with appropriate header, page numbers, one-inch margins, and meet all other requirements of APA Stylebook.
• Subsequently, Please use at least four appropriate scholarly references.
• One of which should be the textbook formatted in the most current APA format.
• Lastly, an abstract is not necessary.
