Setup This video clip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtNfzWAgz84&t=178s.) from the award-winning documentary, Escape Fire: A Fight to Rescue American Healthcare, presents two patients trying to navigate the US health care system. Yvonne Osborn began suffering from severe chest pain at the age of 34. She went through multiple heart surgeries to address her symptoms. However  her physicians and surgeons never discussed working to moderate her high cholesterol, diabetes, or high blood pressure. Roy Litton, also suffers from chest pain. He has never had a primary care provider because he does not have health insurance. The only time he sees a doctor is during his regular emergency room visits. Where providers continuously tell him he needs to adopt a heart-healthy diet that he can’t afford.

Despite spending the most resources on health care, the US continues to rank in the bottom quartile among developed countries on outcome indicators such as life expectancy and infant mortality. This assignment compares healthcare costs in the US with that of Canada, and United Kingdom (UK ) while examining the impact of cost-containment measures in those countries. Further Description

https://www.commonwealthfund.org/international-health-policy-center/system-profiles how does a fee-for-service model affect individual patients and the US health care system as a whole?. Where do you draw a line between the government’s power to legislate protections for individual’s health and an individual’s right to their own beliefs that impact health?.  Step 2: Use the readings, videos, and the discussion questions to create a table. The table should compare the regulatory system of healthcare in US, Canada, and UK particularly around cost, access, and quality.

Identify the main differences between the broad cost-containment approaches used in the United States and those used Canada and UK.  Step3.Using the situation of Yvonne and Roy as examples, discuss how the US healthcare system perform as compared to Canada and UK? Step4: Organize your responses into a 2 page (single-spaced) policy brief about healthcare regulation in three industrialized nations. Your policy brief should include only one table. It should also be well written in order to attract attention from relevant parties including state and local health policy makers.
