SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE SEARCH AND CRITICAL APPRAISAL

Assignment Description: Systematic literature search on a topic in critical care medicine and a critical assessment of the scientific quality of the relevant literature identified. Examples topics might be prone position ventilation for acute lung injury. Timing of RRT initiation in AKI, blood pressure targets in septic shock, early versus delayed enteral nutrition, etc. Typically restrict a  review in order to randomize critically adult humans over a recent time period 5-10 years. A full systematic review or statistical meta-analysis is not necessary. A well described systematic search strategy . In addition quality assessment of selected studies with a short summary will be sufficient. We have more interest in what your studies find and your opinion on the quality of the studies than the overall clinical conclusion.

Further Directions

For the purposes of this systematic assignment we are happy that the  searches have a restriction to PubMed only. If too many potential citations confront you  narrow your question or timescale (ie over last 5 years).
