Your essay will be evaluated in terms of your ability to contend with and adequately interpret the primary sources we read for the course, so use of secondary literature is not recommended.

Submission On Tuesday 12/6, you are responsible for 1. submitting a complete rough draft of your essay on Canvas by our class meeting and 2. bringing a hard copy of your complete rough draft to class for the in-class peer review.

Only those who submit complete drafts and participate in the peer review will earn a Complete (10/10) towards the assignment. On Tuesday 12/13, you are responsible for submitting your final draft via Canvas. Unless you have an SDS accommodation and request an extension in advance, no late submissions will be accepted for this assignment. Formal Considerations Type the paper double-spaced in standard 12 pt. font with standard margins; place name, course title, and assignment title in upper left-hand corner of the first page; provide a (creative) paper title; number all pages; properly and consistently cite all quotations and references; provide style of citation on first or last page; proofread.

Evaluation The final essay is worth 110 possible points. The complete rough draft is worth 10/110 points of your essay grade. It will be evaluated on a Complete/Incomplete basis (10/0 point). Only those who submit a complete rough draft and engage in the peer review will earn a Complete (10/10). The final draft is worth 100/110 points of your essay grade. It will be evaluated on a scale from A to F (100 to 0 points). Your essay will be evaluated according to the following criteria: argument, comprehension, creativity, style, and organization.
