Heel of the patriarchy 2022 Best

Achilles' heel of the patriarchy,

The aim of this assignment is to identify the Achilles’ heel of the patriarchy, and to argue how society can use that area of weakness to undermine and erode the detrimental force of patriarchy.

Heel of the patriarchy

Paper details The end of Allan G. Johnson’s “Patriarchy,” an excerpt from his book The Gender Knot, states the following: “We cannot avoid participating in patriarchy. It was handed to us the moment we came into the world. But we can choose how to participate in it” (Johnson 542). The implication of what Johnson is saying is that patriarchy cannot simply be wished away, but that it can perhaps be eroded depending upon both individual and collective actions, if we choose to work against it.

Heel of the patriarchy

So, for this essay, I want you to consider the realistic ways that one might work to dismantle the patriarchy from within its walls. Your task is to identify the Achilles’ heel ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achilles%27_heel ) of the patriarchy, and to argue how society can use that area of weakness to undermine and erode the detrimental force of patriarchy. I’ve used the metaphor of Achilles’ heel in order to emphasize that the patriarchy is indeed a powerful, omnipresent force, but that by its very nature it contains areas of weakness where one might find a way to take it down.

Heel of the patriarchy

Your choice of what “area”/aspect of the patriarchy to focus on should be highly specific and perhaps quite small–just like the gap between two plates of armor. Once this weak spot of patriarchy is identified you have located your thesis (X). Your subtopics (ABC) should follow from it in the form of how this area can be used against the patriarchy’s powerful grip over society. Although your overall argument will be presenting a hopeful point of view, you will need to consider and use as evidence the harmful aspects of the patriarchy in order to effectively argue how to overcome them.

Heel of the patriarchy

This is where much of the evidence from the readings will come in. Your analysis will be what turns the evidence of the negative into ideas for positive change via your thesis. All 3 readings must be used and cited! “Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt” by Jean Kilbourne (PG 546) From The Gender Knot, “Patriarchy” by Allan G. Johnson (PG 528) “from Muslim Girl” by Amani Al-Khatahtbeh (PG 677).https://youtu.be/jSy1gR4HbDE

Close reading of a poetic device

Assignment: Do a close reading of a poetic device in a song. This assignment is designed to supplement the close reading essay. As such, you need to use close reading skills. For this assignment, choose any song and discuss the author’s use of a poetic device we have talked about in class (Ex. Alliteration, cacophony, metaphor, etc.) in that song. You must discuss the device you have chosen: how it works in the song, what the author accomplishes by using it, what is the effect of the device on the audience, etc.

Close reading of a poetic device

You should include in your close reading examples from the song of places where the device is being used and you should analyze how the device is being used in that example. The best close readings will also attempt to analyze the significance of poetic devices being used in music (i.e. is there some reason these two genres have similarities?).
