The goal of ENG 102 is to practice the basic patterns of academic writing that will be required in all your college-level papers. To practice these patterns in your final paper, you will interact with topical debates from an academic perspective.

Purpose: Throughout your college studies, you will be required to write papers. The goal of ENG 102 is to practice the basic patterns of academic writing that will be required in all your college-level papers. To practice these patterns in your final paper, you will interact with topical debates from an academic perspective. All the assignments leading up to this paper will help you draft essential parts of your final paper, and you will assemble them all together in a rough draft. For the final paper, you will substantially revise your rough draft to address the comments from your professor and peers and develop your paper’s argument further than the rough draft.

By engaging in global revisions, we hope you come to develop a mature writing process, where you can see the benefits of recursive writing—of re-writing and re-thinking. Requirements 4-5 pages, double-spaced (not including title page and References page.) 12-point font. APA Format. Please format your paper to all APA formatting requirements. See this page on the library guide to set up your title page, essay, and References page. Use 2 (minimum) outside sources. One outside source must be from a peer-reviewed journal accessed through the NU Library. Submit your paper as a .docx file or .rft file only. (If you cannot do this, please contact your instructor.)
