Paper 1 Analyzed Data (There are a hypothesis that should be written in the paper) 5. Paper 1 Q&A (very important! read this carefully) 6. 2 articles that should be listed in the paper and reference list.

Squirrel Foraging and vigilant behavior.

For this class, we went to Central Park to see a squirrel foraging and vigilant behavior using an ethogram to record the data.  For the paper – use Past tense except when testing a phenomenon (e.g., To test whether group size is related to time spent foraging…); See “Paper 1 Q&A it’s going to say what to write in different parts of the paper. All the hypothesis that should be included in the paper in the attached file “Paper 1 Analyzed Data”. https://youtu.be/XMORdFZifik

Quantitative research question 2022 Best

quantitative research question

This assignment involves drafting a qualitative and quantitative research question using PICOT criteria. Instructions are below. Create a PowerPoint presentation utilizing the provided template attached. Each slide should have information that addresses the quantitative and qualitative method side by side.

quantitative research question

Instructions are below. Create a PowerPoint presentation utilizing the provided template attached. Each slide should have information that addresses the quantitative and qualitative method side by side. Feel free to insert additional slides to the template as needed. Ensure each slide has the correct heading for this assignment and modify the template accordingly. Headings include: Introduction, research questions and variables, research problem/background statement, purpose, hypothesis, research design, and references. Follow the directions and steps below and the rubric as a guide and remember to utilize correct APA guidelines throughout the PowerPoint.

quantitative research question

FOLLOW THE STEPS: Step 1: Open the template to use Part 1. Draft a qualitative and quantitative research question using PICOT criteria to guide writing these. TIP: Utilize the same clinical topic/nursing area of interest for both questions. Topic of interest/nursing area EXAMPLE: Breast Cancer Note the topic of both questions is related to breast cancer, but the way the questions will be written change how the study will be designed/proposed. A quantitative question: What is the effectiveness of a support group meetings (Intervention) compared with lack of support group use (Comparison) on reducing the anxiety (Outcome) of elderly women in hospital for a mastectomy(Population).

quantitative research question

Note how the word reducing makes this measurable and quantitative. A qualitative topic/question: What is the lived experience of women with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy? Note how the word lived experience makes this about exploring meaning and qualitative. Part 2: Identify the variable in the question Under the quantitative question- Identify and list the Independent and Dependent Variable(s) Note: Independent=presumed cause of/influence on the dependent variable. Example above: (Independent is the Intervention used like group therapy ; Dependent is the outcome/anxiety).

quantitative research question

Under the qualitative question- Identify the central theme/main variable. Example above: (Theme is – experiences with chemotherapy for breast cancer) Step 3: Formulate the background/problem statement for the topic selected. Integrate citations where applicable in this step. (1-2 slides) Step 4: State the purpose for each question (should be slightly different due to the nature of the question) (1 – 2 slides) Integrate citations where applicable in this step. Step 5: State the hypothesis, if applicable. (1 slide) Step 6: Select the Research Design for each question.

quantitative research question

(A design that you decide to use for example, quasi-experimental, experimental, and descriptive or phenomenological or grounded theory). See textbook for more designs. (1 Slide) OVERALL TIPS: 1. Remember to use citations when applicable throughout presentation, specifically in steps 2 and 6. 2. Use a white background with black or navy blue color font 3. Do not place images or pictures on each slide. (Content is being evaluated, not design of PowerPoint). 4. Slide 1: Introduction slide with cover page information according to APA guidelines.

5. Last Slide: References listed using APA guidelines 6. Use at least three peer- reviewed resources (points deducted for less) 7. Use the powerpoint rubric to guide your work. https://youtu.be/hECPeKv5tPM

Paper instructions: The journal article you will evaluate for the first article evaluation is Jason Lyall’s “Does indiscriminate violence incite insurgent attacks? Evidence from Chechnya.” Download Jason Lyall’s “Does indiscriminate violence incite insurgent attacks? Evidence from Chechnya.”This article is a serious political science research report, so give yourself plenty of time to look into it. Please keep in mind, however, that you are only answering questions involving the skills and concepts discussed in our first few weeks. That means you are not evaluating the article as a whole, and there are many parts of the article that will not be required for your tasks.

Evaluate Lyall Download Lyallby answering the following questions and explain and support each answer. (Keep in mind that you’ll need to show that you can apply the methodological concept or issue to this article. Don’t just give a yes or no answer; give the reader a reason to share your judgment.) Does the researcher clearly specify the main research question? What is it? Question 2 Has the researcher proposed theoretical explanations for the political phenomena that interest him? Explain, briefly summarizing these explanations. Are these explanations logically sound, parsimonious, and general? (Make sure that you apply each of these three criteria explicitly and concretely.)

Does he discuss any rival explanations? If so, what are they? For extra credit, can you think of likely explanations he may have overlooked and should also be testing? Question 3 Does the researcher specify a hypothesis or hypotheses? Do these hypotheses follow logically from the theoretical explanations? If he does not make these hypotheses explicit, what would you infer the hypotheses to be, based on the theoretical explanations? (Please consult the readings to remind yourself what a hypothesis, and do not confuse it with–for example–the causal mechanisms within the theory itself.)

Are the independent and dependent variables identified? If so, what are they? If not, what would you infer them to be? Question 4 Has the researcher chosen an appropriate unit of analysis, given his research question and purposes? What is the unit of analysis? Is it clearly identified and consistently used throughout the assigned pages of the research report? (Here make sure to consider the conclusion of the report as well.) Question 5 In order to answer the following questions, you’ll need to explicitly evaluate the actual measures for the dependent variable, the independent variable, and one (your choice) of the variables Lyall calls “confounding variables.”

For each of those three variables, separately answer the following questions: Has the researcher chosen a valid measure, a measure that should correspond to the variable it is intended to reflect? Do you see any threat to the reliability of the measure? (Your answers should reflect your understanding of and ability to apply these two distinct concepts, validity and reliability.) If there are validity and reliability problems, does the researcher recognize and adjust for them?

After discussing validity and reliability problems with each of those three variables, answer this question: Are these measurement procedures specified in sufficient detail that others can replicate them? As in all the other questions, make sure to explain all parts of your answer. (Make sure that your answer to this question addresses only measurement issues.). https://youtu.be/da2sPRxY4bo
