Balanced Interpretation of a text. 2023 Best

Balanced Interpretation of a text.

This paper focuses on balanced Interpretation of a text. After carefully gathering all the data you can find in the text, you as a skilled interpreter will articulate the general principles underlying the text.

Step 2: Balanced Interpretation of a text. After carefully gathering all the data you can find in the text, you as a skilled interpreter will articulate the general principles underlying the text. To identify those principles, the skilled interpreter asks three important questions: 1. What problem or issue does the text address? Biblical writers did not just deal with problems unique to their times. They addressed timeless issues like money, power, God, life after death, sex, and family relationships. BLM 8.4b 2. What light did the text shed on those issues for its original readers? Remember that in reading the Bible, you are looking over someone’s shoulder.

The words on the page before you were originally intended for another person or persons. You must be careful to discover what the text would have meant to them in their circumstances before you try to apply those principles to your own circumstances. 3. What general response does the author describe or imply for the original audience—and for us today? Step 3: Conscientious Application Now that you have determined (as much as possible) the meaning for the original audience, you must determine what that same text means in your own life.

Again, the following questions: What do I have in common with the original audience? What response did the writer seek from the original audience? What response does God expect from me? What am I going to do about it? This is the bottom line. All the work done so far is futile if you fail at this point. The Scripture can have no place in your life until it has an impact on the choices you make in everyday life. https://youtu.be/HeuJg0k8kRg

Using the Art Institute of Chicago’s vast database, choose at least 2 objects from each of these cultures (you may also include an architectural feature)- Meso America or South America (Meso, South and North can be searched as the Americas) North America Africa India or SE Asia West Asia (also helpful to use the term Islamic when searching) China (You may also use Asia as a general search to find both Chinese and Japanese art) Japan Oceana (this one is tricky- to make this more enjoyable, I’d like you to use the Metropolitan Museum’s site – see link below). Follow the following steps to completing your project:

After choosing and researching your 16 objects, look for conceptual connections between 2 or more of them (they must be objects from different cultures). This should be a ‘Big Idea’ like Power, Identity, Spirituality, Family etc. Write a closing paragraph that includes your analysis of this last point. There may be multiple ways to accomplish this.

For example, A Gong Dynasty spouted bronze vessel carved with animals may relate to a sculpture from another culture that uses animals to reinforce the idea of power or protection. Alternatively, you may decide to focus on the idea of the ritual pouring of liquids and relate it to another object based on that property. Think in terms of exploration and curation. What do these objects tell us about their respective cultures? How are these artistic practices related in terms of form and content? Open your mind to connections between ideas that you find across cultures.

Include images or links to the images with your paper. Your final paper should be 6-8 pages long, text only (do not insert images into the text body; instead paste them into an additional page, or simply provide a link). Papers MUST be on the due date. Papers must be documented using the MLA style, with a bibliography. Students who are unfamiliar with this style should seek help using on campus resources. *Ideally, you would visit the museum in person. Please make every effort to do so. https://youtu.be/0fDhd0mMMe8
