This assignment focuses on producing a higher quality introduction in preparation for the Informative speech. Additionally, the nature of this assignment will expose Communication students to multiple introductory styles/types. Assignment: You are to prepare two (2) introduction speeches (e.g., Anecdote/Story, Quotation, Startle the audience, etc.). For this assignment, your speech must include: Attention-step, Thesis statement, Justification, Preview, and first transition statement. *NOTE: The only section that will be different between your two introduction speeches will be your attention-step area.

Informative Introduction Speech.

The wording/language must be entirely different in these two sections. For this assignment, the use of a rhetorical question and joke may not be used. Avoid using as your first word: “imagine”. Also, do NOT cite your name in the introduction. 1st speech 2nd speech Attention-getter (one type) Attention-getter (second type) Thesis Justification Preview Transition You may use only one (1) 3 x 5 note card (one-side only) per introductory speech. Time: The minimum length of speaking time for this assignment is 30 seconds. A target time of 45 seconds is recommended with a maximum time limit of 1 minute per intro speech.
