Discussion Board Guidance & Rubric The reality of asynchronous online courses is that we can’t all get around a table and talk about the material that we consider each week. To try to mimic this sort of discussion we would have in a live course, each week you will be presented with some questions to write about and discuss with your fellow students. Each week two questions concerning will be posted for you to answer in the discussion board link in the week’s Content & Assignment tab. You will first provide an Initial Post (approximately 150 words) that answers the questions.

Points will be deducted if it is not posted by that date (see rubric). There are no correct answers to these questions. Your Initial Posts will provide you an opportunity to think about these issues and use the material from the videos and reading to provide your perspective on the question. Do your best to use class material to support your perspective. That is the real key to this sort of discussion; it needs to be evidenced base. That’s the difference between academic discourse and a discussion in a bar. In the first, you should share the evidence.

For example, you may believe that Putin invaded Ukraine just as all other Russian rulers have expanded their territory, such as Peter the Great, Catherine, Stalin etc. In the non-evidentiary example, you just provide the statement with no reasons behind it or a simple “because”.
