Environmental impacts of the energy production and consumption

Environmental impacts of the energy production and consumption

Write a brief research paper in your own words addressing the environmental impacts of the energy production and consumption of a developing nation and a developed nation. Your paper should be approximately 10-12 pages without the data tables or graphs. You may use bullet points where appropriate. You may draw on all of the raw material at your disposal, including lecture notes and the textbook. All material used must be cited. The U.S. Energy Information Administration database is accessible at (http://www.eia.gov). Include your data tables or graphs. Choose your nations and locate the following information:1. Population found under Data under Other Statistics2. Economic status-try CIA Fact book or use GDP data from EIA Find the following information for the timeframe 1980-2018 by using the graph key. Please see the Instructions for using the EIA website.1. For each fossil fuel used by your nations determine the following: annual production, consumption, and carbon dioxide emissions2. For electricity determine the following: total net generation by all fuel types i.e. fossil fuels, nuclear, hydropower, and non-hydropower renewables (geothermal, tide and wave, wind, solar, biomass and waste, and hydroelectric pumped storage3. For biofuels determine the following: annual production and consumption of fuel ethanol and biodiesel4. Find the energy intensity levels for your nations as energy consumption per capita and energy consumption per GDP. Write a concise synopsis examining the trends over time of your nation’s production and consumption of energy. Did their use of energy increase, decrease or remain stable? Remember that you can download graphs. In your paper discuss the environmental impacts of your nation’s production and use of energy. You could create a table with energy types as rows and environmental impacts as a column. Or you could use bullet points. What is the energy intensity per capita of your two nations? Is your developed nation using more energy per person than your developing nation? Are your nation’s major contributors of carbon dioxide? Are your nation’s energy self-sufficient? What alterations in energy production and consumption do you think your nations should make? Give a rationale for each of your recommendations. Globalization and Information Research

Globalization and Information Research

Part 1: Globalization and Information Research Context: Companies that perform well in their country of origin usually consider expanding operations in new international markets. Deciding where, how, and when to expand is not an easy task, though. Many issues need to be considered before crafting an expansion strategy and investing significant resources to this end, including: the level of demand to be expected for the company’s products/services presence of local competitors the regulatory, economic, demographic, and political environments Carefully researching and analyzing these and other factors can help mitigate the inherent risk associated with an overseas expansion strategy, thus increasing the likelihood of success. As a data analyst in your company’s business development department, you’ve been tasked with the responsibility of recommending countries for international expansion. You’ll write a report to the company’s executive team with your research, analysis, and recommendations. Instructions: Write a 525-word summary covering the following items: According to the article listed above, what were the most important strategic moves that propelled Netflix’s successful international expansion? The article mentions investments in big data and analytics as one of the elements accompanying the second phase of overseas expansion. Why was this investment important? What type of information did Netflix derive from the data collected? According to the article, what is exponential globalization? Not all international expansion strategies are a resounding success, however. Research an article or video that discusses an instance in which an American company’s expansion efforts in another country failed. According to the article/video you selected, what were the main reasons for this failure? Do you agree with this assessment? Explain some of the reasons why certain companies’ expansion plans have failed in the past. Part 2: Hypothesis testing Context: Your organization is evaluating the quality of its call center operations. One of the most important metrics in a call center is Time in Queue (TiQ), which is the time a customer has to wait before he/she is serviced by a Customer Service Representative (CSR). If a customer has to wait for too long, he/she is more likely to get discouraged and hang up. Furthermore, customers who have to wait too long in the queue typically report a negative overall experience with the call. You’ve conducted an exhaustive literature review and found that the average TiQ in your industry is 2.5 minutes (150 seconds).Another important metric is Service Time (ST), also known as Handle Time, which is the time a CSR spends servicing the customer. CSR’s with more experience and deeper knowledge tend to resolve customer calls faster. Companies can improve average ST by providing more training to their CSR’s or even by channeling calls according to area of expertise. Last month your company had an average ST of approximately 3.5 minutes (210 seconds). In an effort to improve this metric, the company has implemented a new protocol that channels calls to CSR’s based on area of expertise. The new protocol (PE) is being tested side-by-side with the traditional (PT) protocol.

The Importance of Animals in War

The Importance of Animals in War

Description: Much of this semester has been devoted to researching and writing individual research papers related to the course’s theme. They can be geared towards your own background and interests, whether those are in history, education, arts and literature, medicine, animal rights, religion, or anything else! You should construct an argument that supports a convincing thesis in response to your topic. You should build a persuasive case using evidence from a mix of scholarly and popular sources, using primary or secondary material. You should not just describe or report on your topic, but present a strong point of view that takes a particular position relevant to existing scholarship and criticism. Instructions: The paper should be 20-25 pages in length (12 pt, Times New Roman font, one inch width margins).Your paper must be organized around a thesis that addresses the questions raised by your chosen topic. Build on in-class exercises on thesis writing and making an argument. Assume your audience is the community of similar scholars like your classmates and your instructor. You can expect us to have a general knowledge of Animal Studies, but not necessarily the context of your topic. You must follow all the paper style guidelines (below).Be sure to use explicit examples from books, articles, and other sources to advance your argument. There is no specific requirement for how many sources you use. In light of the COVID-19 emergency, I’m going to be extremely flexible in grading, knowing that each of you are working under limitations. Try to, as far as possible, use academic sources or peer-reviewed journals. When using online resources, be aware of potential biases and evaluate the source in light of that. You should use material quoted from the sources, but direct quotations should compose less than 20 percent of the paper. Grading: This paper is worth 45 percent of your final grade for the course. Late paper policy: Final paper grades will be lowered by 1/3 of a full letter grade for each day that the paper is late, including weekends. Extensions can be made in extenuating circumstances by contacting me directly and making arrangements in advance. Style Guidelines BASICS: Each paper is to be 20 to 25 typed pages in length – about 5000 to 6500 words! Typed—12 point, Times New Roman font. Double-spaced on 8 ½ x 11 white paper One-inch margins (check your defaults! Microsoft Word often sets these at 1.25 inches!)Page numbers Grammar, sentence structure, and quality of organization of thoughts will all affect the overall quality of your paper. Take time to both edit and proofread your paper at all stages! Remember that you must have a strong and clear introduction and a conclusion that summarizes your argument. CITATION and QUOTATIONS: Quotations and citations are necessary to give support to your arguments. Remember that although some quotations are necessary, avoid too many direct quotations or really long quotations—paraphrase using your own words. Keep quoted material to under 20 percent of the final paper. Proper citation for this assignment is the use of EITHER: footnotes according to the Chicago Manual of Style (single spaced, 10 pt font) OR parenthetical references in APA or MLA style. All ideas that you have used from the sources must be properly cited! Plagiarism (using someone else’s words, ideas, or interpretations without giving them credit) will not be tolerated. Proven cases of plagiarism will result in a zero for the assignment, the possibility of an F in the course, and a report to the Dean of Students. The Topic: The Importance of Animals in War and The Impact of Animals in War, Policing and overall Combat.

Psychological principles- Reflection Paper

Psychological principles- Reflection Paper

This paper is an opportunity for you to apply some of the psychological principles taught in this course to your own life. It is a reflection paper where you can demonstrate what you have learned by looking at either your past life experiences, or your life in the future. You will then be asked to discuss what information from the course you used to make any changes in your life. It is less of a biography and more analytic—as you look at your life use the guidelines for whichever aspect you choose to focus upon and fully explore them. First, after some reflection, decide if you want to focus on your past or your future. Use the questions in the sections below to assist with your introspection. As you write it, reference at least three different theories, concepts or processes presented in the textbook or other course materials that have impacted your views on your past or how they will affect your future. Evaluation: Your work will be evaluated based on the rubric provided. Points will be awarded based on the depth of your insight as you tell your story, the analysis you provide, use of the resources from the course (the textbook, videos, articles, discussions), and the mechanics or construction of the writing of the paper (grammar, spelling, syntax, formatting, APA style use). Review this rubric prior to writing the paper to be sure you address all the areas to be assessed. Paper Instruction and Content: This paper will contain 2 major components: 1) an analysis of your past or an application of your future, and 2) a discussion of those items throughout the course that led to some change in you.#1 Understanding My Past Life Experiences – or how the knowledge you gained through this class helps you to understand you from the pastOR#2 How I Can Apply Psychology to My Future Life – a look at how the knowledge you gained from this class can be applied to your future. In the final section of your paper, you will discuss how this course has changed you. Here you will summarize how the activities and specific assignments, readings, videos, speakers, discussions may have changed your perspective or behaviors. Use the questions in the sections below to help guide your thinking and writing for this assignment. Remember, you will be citing your resources (like you did throughout the course in the discussion boards).Instructions: Write in specific, thorough details being sure to relate your story with information you learned throughout this course. CHOOSE EITHER: Understanding My Past Life Experiences-How does what I have learned in this course help to be understand my past? How has what happened in your life affected who you are today? We are all shaped by our experiences. The purpose of this topic is not to tell your life story but to explain how the events in your life story influenced your life. Be sure to relate your life story with at least three topics in this course and how you have gained a better understanding of your past because of learning psychology. For example, if your parents were divorced when you were 10, how did that affect you? How did that change the relationship you had with one or both parents? How did it change your attitude regarding intimate relations with others?

: Hurricane Name: Section: 1301-_____ Date: Hurricane Katrina’s flooding of New Orleans – This lab walks you through an interactive multimedia presentation concerning the effects of a hurricane on a major cityscape. We will also look at the surrounding landscape, in terms of physical geography, to try and understand how and why certain areas of the city were affected so differently. I went to New Orleans recently and drove through some of the most heavily affected areas. Many of the homes and still boarded up and businesses closed. Please follow all instructions carefully. If you have any problems, please ask a colleague or your professor. Answer every question in complete sentences for full credit.1. Go to http://www.danswenson.com/interactive/katrina/Katrina-Interactive-Timeline.html2. View the animated interactive graphic by clicking [Start] as you go through this site, please keep in mind these questions and answer them to the best of your ability. The first four answers are explicitly mentioned throughout the multimedia presentation. What section of New Orleans, specifically with the city limits (not including the surrounding areas to the East), was first to flood, (1 sentence) (10 pts)Look at the layout of the city, the man-made structures, the natural environment and changes that man made to the environment. What caused the city to flood here first? (5+ sentences). (20 pts)When Katrina made landfall in New Orleans, how high was the wall of water? (1 sentence) (10 pts)How high was the storm surge on the North shore of Lake Pontchartrain? (1 sentence) (10 pts)Why do you think the two values concerning water height (in the previous two questions) concerning wall of water and storm surge are different? Do NOT describe the city for me. Again, I am not asking about the northern/southern part of the city of New Orleans. (25 pts)NOW… stop and go back to the topography question. Did you talk about the city of New Orleans at all? Yes, then go back and re-do the answer because I want you to discover the different landscapes that surrounds the city, so go back and talk about the landscape around N.O. NOW… focus on the cityscape. Why do you think the flooding occurred more in the northern part of the city versus the southern part? Compare and contrast natural features and man-made features within and around the city limits of New Orleans that were the cause of this difference? (8+ sentences) (20 pts)

Bleeding Love

The job of the theater reviewer is twofold. Your task is:1. To convey your experience of watching a live performance to the reader who was not there. What did you see? Where? What was the theater like? What happened on stage? What surprised you? What was it like to see this particular performance?2. To offer the reader your opinion of the performance – and help the reader to decide whether or not to go see it themselves. What worked for you? What didn’t? What was your general reaction? Do you think other people should go see this – and why or why not? The best way to learn how to write an effective theater review is to look at examples. Read the New York Times arts section. These examples need not only be about theater. Reviews are a genre unto themselves, and a good review of anything can be a model. Check out a book review, a review of a television pilot, a video game review. Which reviews do you find most useful? What makes a review interesting to read? How much information should you reveal up front – and when should you be wary of spoilers? Use these examples as models (not templates). Learn from them, but make your review your own. In short, write the kind of review that you would appreciate as a reader. While I hope that you enjoy the performances you see, you are also welcome to write a harsh or negative review of a production that you thought was lacking. Keep in mind, however, that any opinions you expressed must be substantiated with evidence. Don’t simply tell us: “I thought the show was boring.” Tell us why – and be specific. The more evidence-based and specific your writing is, the more effective your review will be. Try to focus on the production rather than the play. Your primary job is to talk about the success or failure of the actors, director, and production team in creating an effective theatrical experience. FORMAT your review should be between 2 – 3 typed double-spaced pages long – no more, no less – in 12 point font. Please use one-inch margins on all sides, include your first and last name, and staple the paper. Use page numbers. Please make sure to include the date and location where you saw the production. Be sure also to attach a ticket stub and program to certify that you attended. If you attend a performance that does not use tickets or programs, please ask the box office manager to write up and sign a note – with their full name, email address, and telephone number, and your full name – certifying that you attended

Food Groups – Adequate Nutrients

Adequate Nutrients – Food Groups

Paper details It is possible that although your Part 2. Diet Analysis Chronometer Nutrition report showed your diet was adequate in nutrients, met calorie goals. In addition balanced in terms of nutrients, your diet is lacking variety and not showing moderation in terms of the food groups. One is too high or too low, resulting in too much or too little of another food group). This portion of the diet analysis project will focus on your critical analysis of your intake for one day as compared to recommendations from My Plate for variety and moderation from the food groups. Your critical analysis will be presented as a written paper. The paper should include an introduction paragraph, one paragraph for each of the 5 food groups, and one paragraph on the “limits” (sodium and saturated fat), and a conclusion.

Further Description

Introduction: This should tell the reader what they will expect to read about in your paper. The main focus here is that you are introducing a review of your diet in terms of how well it matches up to recommendations about food groups. Body of the paper: Aim for 1 complete paragraph (3-5 sentences is a good goal to aim for) addressing each food group and the limits. This means you will have 6 paragraphs in total for the body of the paper. For each food group support the determination you made (Y or N) in column 3 of your worksheet- Did you reach your target? Clearly state if you believe you did/did NOT meet the recommendation and how you came to this conclusion.

Which foods did you classify in this food group and how did you come up with the total number of servings? Do this for each of the 5 food groups. Once you have this for all food groups, do the same for the limits. If you exceeded sodium and/or saturated fat, identify which foods in your diet for the day resulted in being over the limit(s). If you were under for one or both, comment on how you made choices to keep those to a minimum. In the event no decisions were made specifically with awareness of sodium and saturated fat content, that is fine. However you will want to comment on this still and not skip over a critical analysis of your intake impacting those values.

Conclusion:

This is the last paragraph of the paper. Here is where you present your final argument using the preceding evidence. Presented in the body of the paper to support whether or not your diet for that one-day was varied and exhibited moderation. The key aspects to address here are specifically variety and moderation as presented in. An Introduction to Nutrition chapter 2 using My Plate as your set of guidelines.
