Sustaining cultural values. 2022 Best

Sustaining cultural values.

The aim of this paper  is to critically assess the stories, explaining their role in sustaining cultural values. We have discussed the intersection between sports and society on a variety of issues including race, gender, and social class.

Sustaining cultural values.

Critical Analysis Paper 7-8 pages Papers should be 7-8 pages in length. Each paper should have a bare minimum of 10 cited references (you should easily find far more than this in news reports alone). All papers must follow MLA or APA guidelines for research paper writing. Papers will be graded on quality of writing, clarity of argument, depth of analysis, and quality of insights. While you will need to perform only limited academic research for this assignment (few journal articles), you will need to complete a full study of one story and your works cited page should note references to a complete cycle of reports.

Sustaining cultural values.

This paper is not a review of the events that were reported, nor is it a repetition of news reports. You are to critically assess the stories, explaining their role in sustaining cultural values. We have discussed the intersection between sports and society on a variety of issues including race, gender, and social class. You are to trace a story involving sports and one of these key social concerns (or other major social concerns) from the last five years. Writing on an older story will lead to a zero on this assignment. You are to trace the entire “story” of one major sports event of the last five years.

You are to follow the story’s trajectory from first report to last report.

Sustaining cultural values.

Thus, the story must (for the moment) be considered dead (ended). Your analysis of the story will involve a critical discussion of the value systems the narrators brought to this particular issue. As we’ve noted, in some cases, sports have been well ahead of society in bringing about social change, in many other cases, sports have been way behind society and in most cases sports have followed their own unique value criteria in matters of race, gender, sexuality, disabilities, and social class.

Sustaining cultural values.

As we’ve also noted, media (the story-tellers— news services, broadcasters, sports talk sites) tend to be the arbiters of values in these cases. That is, by telling the story, they set value expectations for audiences and motivate us to see some players as “right” and others as “wrong.” So, the tension between the values expressed within the sport and the values of the larger society are played out in the media coverage of the sports. https://youtu.be/v03-Q8Tt2fY

Maternal child health 2022 Best

Maternal child health

For this assignment we will focus on maternal child health/childbirth. Details: Explain why the issue is a public health problem, and describe health inequities that exist for your chosen public health issue – i.e. by race, ethnicity, sex, SES, sexual orientation or gender identity, etc. as applicable.

Maternal child health

Paper instructions: Find a first-hand account of someone’s experience of the issue you selected. -Briefly summarize the account you selected so that your reader can understand your analysis without being personally familiar with the source or referring back to it. Your summary should minimally include what public health issue the account addresses; who is (are) the person (people) in the narrative (name(s) and important descriptive characteristics), where the person resides, when the event occurred/the time period described in the narrative, and a summary of the experience.

Maternal child health

Make sure to include a link to the account in your reference list. -Explain why the issue is a public health problem, and describe health inequities that exist for your chosen public health issue – i.e. by race, ethnicity, sex, SES, sexual orientation or gender identity, etc. as applicable. This section must include evidence (data and citations) that support your explanation and description of inequities. -Analyze this first-hand account (~1.5 pages) of a public health issue by applying a relevant public health framework.

Maternal child health

Your analysis should explain how this framework connects to or can be used to describe or better understand the narrative from a public health lens. Your analysis should not be an explanation of the framework itself, but rather should demonstrate that you understand how the selected framework helps us understand how a unique, individual experience relates to shared characteristics or features that shape people’s lives (their relationships to others or their environment).

Maternal child health

Select ONE of the following public health frameworks: ● the socioecological model ● social determinants of health -Reflect on your learning by addressing the following questions: ● Why did you choose this topic and account? ● How did this account shape, challenge, or confirm your understanding of the public health issue? ● How is this account similar or different to your experience of this public health issue? https://youtu.be/Oszx93HdNHQ

Compiling census data

Learning Objectives Students will learn: (1) to access websites for compiling census data; (2) to screenshot visual data on Mac or PC; (3) to export census data into an excel file; (4) to see visual data by mapping results. Project Instructions For this assignment, I want you to get a sense of what your neighborhood (census tract) demographically looks like as compared to the United States, New York State, and your borough. If you don’t live in NYC, you can pick another region for comparison. As the site is sometimes down, please allow plenty of time to complete this assignment.

Compiling census data

To that end: 1. Using this tutorial as your guide, go to the website. Figure out the census tract that contains your home address. 2. Then follow the tutorial to fill in the missing numbers on page 3 of this assignment. 3. On a separate sheet, compare your census tract to your borough, NY state, and the United States on the following variables: Total Population, Population Density, Race, Household size, Educational Attainment for Population, Cumulative Educational Attainment, Median Family Income, Average Family Income, and Nativity by Citizenship Status. You’ll get quite a bit of information for education and income.

Compiling census data

Therefore, ‘summary’ information is more helpful than over detailed information. In your written analysis, address the following: a) Comparing the United States, NY state, and your borough to your neighborhood (census tract): (1) for population density, is your neighborhood more or less densely populated than your borough? (2) for race, compared to the United States, which groups are over or under represented in your borough and in your neighborhood? (3) for household size, is the average household size in your neighborhood larger or smaller than for your borough? (4) for education, on average, is your neighborhood more or less educated than your borough?

Compiling census data

(5) for income, on average, does your neighborhood have a higher or lower family income than your borough? b) Now that you’ve answered all of 3a above, for your census tract, what were you surprised to find? Does your neighborhood demographically look like New York State? Your borough? If your neighborhood does or does not look like your borough, why do you think that is? Here, using as much information as you can (from #2 above), engage your intellectual imaginations to conjecture about the life circumstances of someone coming from your neighborhood as compared to the average person living in your borough.

Compiling census data

Then do the same for an average person in your neighborhood as compared to someone from NY state; and then as compared to an average person dwelling within the United States. In short, in about five pages, I want you to conjecture about how these variables – Total Population, Population Density, Race, Household size, Educational Attainment for Population, Cumulative Educational Attainment, Median Family Income, Average Family Income, and Nativity by Citizenship Status – might affect a person’s life circumstances. https://youtu.be/Vc3YPpptxzw

Compiling census data

4. Staple your assignment in the following format: (1) your analysis (see below for template), (2) excel file containing the numbers you retrieved from the Social Explorer database, (3) the screenshot map of your census tract, (4) the screenshot of your zip code
